Bicycle Valuation Bluebook
Bicycle Valuation Bluebook
We were excited to see that recently a bicycle valuation site has popped up. It’s a great idea and something that we gave a lot of thought too when we originally built this business. The site is still in Beta and it is hard to tell at ths point how they will monetize it with Ads or subscriptions. There are a couple of reference to subscriptions, but who knows.
We have tested the site and entered many different types of bikes to see what the results are. If you have a fairly late model bike that is still spec’d just like it was from the factory… it’s pretty good at spitting out an retail number. Most blue books for cars, boats, etc. give you more than one number. Retail and trade in numbers would make the site more useful.
It also looks like they are missing lots of data. One of the bicycles we tried to value using the site was a 2012 Specialized Epic S-works. The only data they had was on a 2008 model. This seemed a little odd since this is one of the hottest selling bikes on the used market. Seems like they would have more data?
Anyway, if you want to know what your bike is worth consider the oldtimer’s line. “It’s worth what ever someone will pay for it” We back up every valuation we do in dollars. So, if you are interested to get a valuation done by a human that knows bikes and considers every detail of your bike, click here.
